The United States of America (also the United States, the U.S., and the U.S.A.), is the world fourth largest county in the world and the superpower in terms of economy and military. In this vast and highly developed land, there are rich tourist resources for people to discover. Let’s learn the county and discover it together.



Fast Facts of America


Location: Located in the southern part of North America, the United States of America borders Canada in the north and Mexico and the Mexico Bay in the south. To its west are the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean lies to its east.
Territory: Occupying about 3,717,813 square miles, the county has 50 states in all - 48 ones on the continent and one (Alaska) in northwestern North America, and the other (Hawaii) in the Pacific Ocean.
Population: three million in 2006
Language: English is the official language. As America has a long distance to Britain, the English that American using has some difference with that of the British people as time passes by. A unique American English has formed in USA. In addition, as the United States is a big melting pot with emigrants speaks their own languages. So, in different places of the continent, there are different languages such as French and Spanish.
Religion: 56% of the residents in America believe in Protestant and 28% embrace Judaism. People believe other religions take up 4% of the total population and those who has no religion beliefs take 10%.
Climate: In most areas of its continent, it has a continental climate except the subtropical climate in the southern part. There are usually large temperature differences in one place in a year in the middle and northern plains. Take Chicago as an example: the average temperature in January is -3℃ and in July is 24℃.
Capital City and Other Important Cities: Washington D.C. is the capital city of US. Important cities in east coastal areas are New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Miami. The central plain area has large cities like Atlanta, Chicago, Houston and New Orleans. Along the western coast, there are San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle.
Important Festivals: Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, Valentine's Day, President's Day, Easter Sunday, Independent Day, Halloween, and Mother’s Day.



Famous Attractions in America


The United States boasts its rich tourism resources. The majestic Grand Canyon in Arizona State, Niagara Falls, the romantic Hollywood, the happy Disneyland and other attractions are enchanting places for the world people to visit.

As the natural resources of America are richly endowed by nature, many national parks are set in its territory. Some famous ones are Yellow Stone Park, Glacier National Park, Redwood National Park and the Crater Lake National Park. Abound with so many national parks; the United States is also the first county setting the national park in the world.

Other must-see scenic spots include the Statue of Liberty - what is the Eiffel Tower to Paris, the Wall Street - the financial and commercial hinge of the world, Golden Gate Bridge - one of the world grandest bridges, and the Chinatown - the largest community of Chinese in America and also the most famous street in San Francisco.

As the United States is vast in territory, it has different climatic zones. The climate difference can be clearly seen from the temperature difference in Florida in the south part and the Vermont State in the north.
