Spain (Espana), the hometown of the sun is a great tourism country in the world. Because of its mild climate, the four distinct seasons, the rich tourist resources and the warm people, Spain receives numerous visitors from the world every year. Thus, the county is given the name 'the Kingdom of Tourism'.

Location: In southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. It joins the Biscayne Bay in the north, Portugal in the west and France and Andorra in the northeast. In the south, it faces the Morocco of Africa across the Straits of Gibraltar and borders the Mediterranean in the east and southeast.
Territory: With a total territory of 195,339 square miles, Spain is a country rich in mountains. 35% territory is 3,280,834 feet above the sea level. Only 11% is plain land. Main mountains include the Cantabrian and Pyrenees.
Population: 44.3953 million.
Language: Spanish is the official and nationwidely used language.
Religion: 96% of the citizens believe in Catholicism.
Climate: The inland area is dry and lack of rainfall. Especially in July and August, it is hot. The southeast coastal area is the Mediterranean climate. The weather there is usually sunny and rainy in spring and autumn. In the northern area that is along the Bay of Biscay, it has four distinct four seasons.
Capital City and Other Important Cities: Madrid is the capital city. Barcelona, Montjuic, Seville, Valencia and Avila are some famous tourist cities.
Important Festivals: Most festivals are held from June to September. Three Kings Day and San Fermin are the two famous traditional festivals in Spain. Ceremonies like the open-air concert, costume ball, pageant, and bullfight are also popular.



Famous Attractions in Spain


Tourism is the pillar industry in Spain. Even the Spanish themselves say that they sell the sand, sea, sunshine, and the seafood to the world people humorously.

Some famous scenic spots in Madrid are Paseo de la Castellana, Plaza de Colon, Plaza de Espana, Palacio Nacional, Museo del Prado, Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, and Parque del Retiro.

In Barcelona, Sagrada Familia, Placa de Catalunya, Barri Gotic, Museu Picasso, Parc de la Ciutadella, Port Vell, and Vila Olimpica are the places people usually visit.
